Notes: The Contrada 'Rampante' is located in Sicilies Castiglione di Sicilia, between Passopisciaro and Randazzo, on the Northern side of Mt. Etna. The 11-acre vineyard is planted upon volcanic soils with formations as old as 15,000-years. The 100% Nerello Mascalese vines were planted on the sloping hills in 2000. The grapes are pressed and the wine is then fermented with selected yeast, then it is racked and undergoes malolactic fermentation. The wine is aged for one year in Slavonian oak casks, then another eight months in bottle.
