Notes: The “Poggio della Costa” vineyard is located in Civitella d’Agliano, in the Lazio region’s Tuscia Viterbese area, between the inland hills and the Tiber Valley. Planted in 1970, it covers 7 hectares at an altitude of about 140 meters with an east-facing exposure. The soil is primarily volcanic, part of the Vulsini mountain complex and Lake Bolsena basin, with alluvial deposits from the Tiber River. Its composition is approximately 40% clay, 40% sand, and 20% silt.
The wine is produced from 100% Grechetto (clone G109) harvested by hand in early September. After soft pressing and static decantation of the must, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks. The wine ages on fine lees in steel for nine months, followed by eight months in bottle. Average production is around 2,500 cases per year, and the wine has an aging potential of more than 15 years.
This Grechetto shows medium aromatic intensity with notes of ripe fruit. On the palate, it is warm and persistent, with a structure that emphasizes the typical tannic sensation of the variety.
