NOTES: 2024 marks the first bountiful harvest at Platt Vineyard in quite some time, in this case that was 3.5 tons from 1.75 acres. The vintage was naturally bigger of course, but there was also fruit from parts of the block that had been unable to support healthy ripening the last several years. This increased consistency is where the greatness of the 2024 Platt lies. Likes its neighbor on the Freestone ridge, the combination of the Calera clone and this microclimate produce some of the most compelling Pinot Noir in the world. Even more brooding than the Bodega Thieriot, there's a density here that comes from vine age. It's weighty but never heavy. There's also a class to this wine that can only come from a world class site.
Black raspberries, smoke, licorice and graphite combine to show off the complexity inherent in the vineyard. Structure is provided by the tiny berries common to the clone. This area of the west Sonoma Coast has quickly established itself as the current high-water mark for Pinot Noir in California.
