Notes: Wendling Vineyard Block E Pinot Noir from Littorai is sourced from the most northwesterly vineyard in the Anderson Valley AVA, located near the hamlet of Navarro at 335–500 feet elevation on a steep, south-facing slope just nine miles from the Pacific Ocean. Planted in 2015, Block E was personally selected by Littorai during the vineyard’s development and features red, well-drained Bearwallow-Wolfey complex soils—shallow sandy loam over sandstone and shale with only 6–12 inches of topsoil. The site is farmed using organic and biodynamic methods, though not certified, and yielded 3.58 tons per acre in 2023 from 11 different selections. The wine is expressive and fresh, with aromas of candied notes, blackberry, cherry, violets, licorice, and wildflowers. On the palate, it reveals herbaceous complexity and chewy tannins, offering a satisfying, nuanced profile that’s less bold but equally compelling.
