NOTES: The Piner-Olivet Ranch Zinfandel is a love letter to the extremely old vine Zinfandels of Russian River Valley. This Zinfandel is a blend of three vineyards, 70% from Papera Ranch planted in 1934, 24% from Carlisle Estate Vineyard planted in 1927, and 6% from Mancini Ranch planted in 1922. All vineyards are located in the Russian River AVA of Somona County. The wine is aged entirely in French oak and is bottled unfiltered and unfined.
Aromatically the wine has notes of macerated cherries, jammy raspberries, and bright blood oranges. On the palate the wine has flavors of black raspberries and Italian black cherries, with bright and zesty acidity that balances out the fruit forward flavors.
