Morgan's homage to his father, Joel Peterson, 'A Buffalo in Montana," comes from vineyards that are either central to or adjacent to his father's long career making wine.
The core of the wine comes from the 1880s plantings at Old Hill Ranch, the iconic vineyard that made the greatest Ravenswood wines through the 1980s and 1990s. The remainder is composed of two other sites. The first is Dolinsek Ranch - a vineyard planted in 1910 that abuts Joseph Swan, the namesake winery Joel Peterson learned to make wine in the 1970s and where the first Ravenswood wines were made. The second is Sky Vineyard on Mt. Veeder. The final wine is a beautiful amalgamation of the dense and weighty Old Hill combined with the nimble, blue-fruited perfume of Dolinsek and the savory structure of Sky.
